Si Piolo Pascual ang sumalang sa “Tough Ten” segment ng The Buzz kahapon, December 13. Dahil nagpo-promote si Piolo ng kanyang bagong album under Star Records entitled Decades: The Greatest Songs of the 50’s, 60’s & 70’s, iniayon dito ang mga tanong sa kanya ng co-host ng programa na si Ruffa Gutierrez.

“Since ikaw ang guest namin for today, Piolo, we’re gonna do a different take on ‘The Buzz Tough Ten.’ So, for each question, ilalagay namin yung title ng iyong song na kasali dito sa Decades. And yun ang magiging basis ng ating questions for you today,” paliwanag ni Ruffa.

Tough Ten Question No. 10: “Decades” - More than a decade ka nang namayagpag sa iyong karera sa showbiz, sa loob ng panahong ito what upon your discovery is your biggest strength and your greatest weakness?

“Siguro ang strength ko is faith. More than anything, I always believe in God’s purpose, God’s plans and to never go against it and just live up my destiny,” sagot ni Piolo.

Did you ever get tempted with your leading ladies?

“Yes, it’s a given. It’s hard when you do something… buong-puso yun, e, pag ginagawa mo ang isang bagay. You cannot cheat it. Hindi mo puwedeng dayain ang isang acting. So when I get there, I get into the character, siyempre pag off-cam na, nararamdaman mo pa rin. Hindi naman puwedeng on and off lang.”

“Parang pinain n’yo yun, a!” natatawang sabi ni Piolo. “I don’t wanna say that. Sige.”

“I don’t wanna say yes, I don’t wanna say no. Maybe she’s just around the corner. And maybe she’s there already. But I do hope na everything will fall into place.”

Tough Ten Question No. 8: “Can’t Take My Eyes Off You” - Kung may isa kang tao o bagay na kaya mong titigan for 24 hours, sino at ano ito?

“Ikaw, maganda kang titigan for 24 hours,” mabilis na sagot ni Piolo. “Seriously… I’m serious.”

And you know sa pictorial niyan, hindi ako maka-concentrate. Tapos pag tinitingnan kita, name-mesmerize talaga ako. I’m serious.

“Yeah.”

Tough Ten Question No. 7: “Are You Lonesome Tonight?”

I know it will never happen because bukod sa nandiyan yung family ko, I know that we all have yung destined partner for each one of us.

Tough Ten Question No. 6: “If I Fel - Kailan ka huling nag-fall o nagkamali at paano ka bumangon?

“Kailan lang. Nag-fall ako. Just recently.”

Can you make kuwento what happened recently?

“Backstage. Off cam.”

As in you fell backstage?

“Hindi, hindi… I mean romantically,” sagot ni Piolo.

Really? Sino yun?

Tough Ten Question No. 5: “You’ve Lost That Lovin’ Feelin’” - Sino ang isang  tao na gusto mong hingan ng tawad at bakit?

“Kung meron man… kasi naturally mahiyain ako, e. And as far as I can remember, lahat naman ng situation, kung meron mang issues, as much as possible inaayos ko naman.”

So, you don’t intentionally hurt anyone?

“I don’t wanna hurt anyone. If you ask me, siyempre mas gusto kong peace lang.

Tough Ten Question No. 4: “Strangers In The Night” - May punto na ba sa buhay mo na humarap ka sa salamin at nasabi mo sa iyong sarili, ‘Piolo, sino ka ba? Hindi na kita kilala?’

“Ah… matagal-tagal na. Siguro noong nagsisimula ako sa showbiz. At the time na ang daming nangyayari sa buhay ko. Dire-diretso yung blessings. There was a time na naririnig ko rin sa ibang tao na, ‘Parang nagbabago ka na.’ So, it was the turning point of my life, actually, when I became a Christian.”

How many years ago was this?

“Almost eight years ago. So, yun, at that time, dun ko na-realize na hindi pala puwedeng ganun. You cannot just be happy and mind the people around you kasi minsan may natatapakan ka na. Hindi mo alam nakakasakit ka na pala.”

Tough Ten Question No. 3: “Your Song” - What’s your song na idine-dedicate mo para sa anak mo (Iñigo)? How old is he now?

“He is 12. Ano ba ang song ko sa kanya? We always sing ‘This Love’ ng Maroon 5. Kami ng anak ko, mahilig kaming kumanta. Gusto kong kantahin sa kanya yung ‘You’ll Be In My Heart’ by Phil Collins.”

Tough Ten Question No. 2: ‘I’ll Be Seeing You’ - Sino ang isang tao mula sa iyong nakaraan ang gusto mong muling makita at bakit?

“Hindi naman kailangan ex or ano. Siguro ang gusto ko, daddy ko. He passed on when I was 16. My mom always want somebody in the family to be a singer like my dad.

So, you’re dedicating this album to him, as well?

“Yes.”

Tough Ten Question No. 1: “Babe” (carrier single) - If I were to ask you three choices: showbiz career, a quite life, or your dream babe, at this point, what is the most important and why?

“Tama yung question, Ruffa, na at this point because honestly, my priority is my career. But I would want a quiet life, of course, in time. And given the proper time, when all things fall into place, I would want to be with my babe,” tugon ni Piolo na ikinakilig at ikinatili ng mga tao sa studio.

Matinee idol Piolo Pascual is still excited about his first-produced film, Manila, even though it is now facing a controversy.

Last week, PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) reported the reactions of screenwriters Ricky Lee and Pete Lacaba about Manila. The movie is a two-part indie film that features Piolo, who is also a co-producer for this film, and is directed by Adolf Alix, Jr. and Raya Martin.

Piolo has been very open in saying that Manila is “inspired” by Ishmael Bernal’s 1980 movie Manila By Night and Lino Brocka’s 1979 masterpiece Jaguar (slang for guwardiya or security guard).

Manila By Night was written and directed by Bernal, with input from Lee and other screenwriters. Jaguar, on the other hand, is credited to both Lee and Lacaba.

Lee told PEP through a phone conversation that they were not informed about the movie Manila, which was written by Adolf and Ramon Sarmiento.

“Sana pinaalam man lang sa amin,” said Lee. “Ang dami-dami kong naririnig and and dami-daming nagtatanong sa akin.”

PEP was able to get Piolo’s reaction about this issue in a short chat with him before the unveiling of Star Magic’s 2009 Catalogue yesterday, September 28, at the lobby of EDSA Shangri-La Hotel in Mandaluyong City.

“There are some controversies, pero we’re happy because tapos na kami sa shoot,” Piolo told PEP when asked for an update about Manila.

Piolo is still positive that the issue about his indie movie would be settled soon. “Post-production na, I’m gonna see the rough cut tonight. I hope they’ll be able to iron things out with Mr. Ricky Lee and Mr. Pete Lacaba.”

When asked for his comment about it, Piolo was honest enough to say, “I’d rather not comment about it because I only found out about it yesterday. So, I haven’t really discussed it with my director. I’m meeting up with him tonight, si Direk Adolf Alix Jr. But I’m praying na maayos naman.”

In the end, he is still positive about Manila. “I’m also excited about the project, it’s the first time I produce. I hope it turns out well.”

At press time, PEP is still trying to contact Direk Adolf Alix Jr. to air his side about this issue. Direk Adolf just arrived yesterday from Thailand to represent his indie film, Tambolista (2007), at the Bangkok Film Festival.

The death of Maja Salvador’s father paved the way for Piolo Pascual and Ryan Agoncillo to finally resolve their differences.

According to reports, the two feuding actors talked last Monday, November 19, during the wake of former actor Ross Rival at the St. Peter Chapels, Quezon Avenue in Quezon City. Ryan’s manager, Noel Ferrer, revealed that it was Maja’s handler, Chit Ramos, who initiated the reconciliation.

Prior to the incident, sources said that Piolo arrived with Erik Santos and Mark Bautista while Ryan was accompanied by girlfriend Judy Ann Santos. Chit, however, refused to say anything when asked by reporters how she managed to convince Ryan and Piolo to settle their differences.

Judy Ann, on the other hand, said that she never heard the conversation, but she was very happy that everything turned out fine between Piolo and Ryan.

A LOOK BACK. The feud between the two male stars started last year when rumors started circulating that Judy Ann—supposedly owing to Ryan’s jealous streak—personally requested to Star Cinema to edit out her steamy kissing scenes with screen partner Piolo in the movie Don’t Give Up On (2006).

I watched the movie and it’s one of the few movies that I liked.”

The already volatile situation was aggravated when Piolo made a comment on Juday and Ryan’s relationship.

Irked by what seemed Piolo’s meddling, Ryan lashed out by sending an open letter to the press in which he indicated: “1.) 2.) Whatever happens between me and Juday is between us, and we are OK. And for Piolo to talk about my girlfriend outside work is rather ungentlemanly. 3.) I learned that in a recent The Buzz interview with Piolo & Juday, Juday was caught by the camera saying “Echosero” referring to Piolo—after she repeatedly brushed off Piolo’s advances as soon as the camera lights went on. I just have this today. Next time I see him, I’ll put him in his place.”

Months dragged on and the feud hung fire.

Both parties had repeatedly told the press that a ceasefire was possible but they didn’t want to force it or do it in public.

A couple of months back, Piolo had the chance to settle the issue but backed off instead.

“Noong nag-taping kami for Sharon, I was backstage. Judy Ann and Ryan were singing,” shared Piolo to PEP. “Sabi ko, ‘Lord, kung ito na ‘yong time, ‘yong chance, then, you know, so be it.’ Gusto ko na rin ma-settle. At least, you know, kahit papaano, naghi-heal na ‘yong sugat. Pero there will come a time…”

Last Monday, that moment finally came.
