Confident si Piolo Pascual na patuloy pa ring tatangkilikin ng publiko ang tamabalan nila ni Angel Locsin kahit open na ang relasyon ng young actress kay Luis Manzano. In fact, napakalakas ng feedback sa kauna-unahan nilang tambalan sa telebisyon sa teleseryeng Lobo ng ABS-CBN kaya naman binigyan agad sila ng first movie project ng Star Cinema Productions.

“Ever since we started our love team, our team-up, wala namang I think nakakapekto sa relationship namin or sa team-up namin. Actually, lumakas pa nga because ang dami nung love team na thread sa Pinoy Exchange [website], may grupo sa iba’t ibang parte ng mundo. So, hindi ko naman nakitaan na may conflict. And besides Luis and I are friends. Every Sunday we see each other sa show,” lahad ni Piolo.

WHAT HAPPENED TO THE “CHURCHMATE”? Masaya raw si Piolo para kina Angel at Luis. Kung happy si Angel kay Luis, kumusta naman ang puso ni Piolo? Ano na ang nangyari sa churchmate niya na gusto sana niyang ligawan?

“Wala na siya dito, e. She’s from here. But actually she’s based in some other parts.”

Hindi siya nanghinayang na nawala yung girl?

“Well, I believe in perfect timing. I believe in destiny. I believe if it’s for you, it’s gonna happen.”

Okey lang daw kay Piolo kung hindi pa dumarating ang babaeng para sa kanya. Bising-busy pa rin naman daw siya sa kanyang career.

“Kasi sa sampung taon ko na pagtatrabaho, grabe para akong kabayo. Daig ko pa ang kabayo, ‘di ba? Sa grabe ko magtrabaho, hinahanap ng katawan ko. Kapag nagbabakasyon ako sa Amerika ng two weeks nami-miss ko yung trabaho.

“Pero nowadays po at least po in between work nakakapag-prepare ako before I start a new show, a new movie. So, at least there’s time to… may downtime to do other stuff like for instance this movie with Angel.

“After Lobo I was planning to do an indie film habang nagtri-train ako for the movie, natapos ko po yung Manila. Natapos ko siya ng hindi ko sinasadya. Dapat mag-a-adjust ako habang gingawa ko yun sa movie na gagawin namin ni Angel. E, natapos ko siya. Sa sobrang kaadikan ko sa trabaho, after training dumidiretso ako sa location.”

BORROWING PIOLO. Nabanggit ng Regal martriarch na si Mother Lily Monteverde na hindi na niya itutuloy ang demanda kay Angel Locsin at ang kapalit nito ay ang pagpapahiram sa kanya ng Star Cinema either kay Piolo or John Lloyd Cruz para itambal kay Marian Rivera.

“Exclusive po ako sa Star, e. ‘Pag pinahiram po… Pero nakapirma ako sa Star ng three pictures, three years. Depende po kay Tita Malou [Santos, Managing Director ng Star Cinema].”

Kapag natuloy ang tambalan nila ni Marian lalong iigting ang kumpetisyon nila ni Dingdong Dantes.

“No, Dingdong and I are friends. I have no issues against the guy. I actually admire him because grabe rin naman ang pinagdaanan ni Dingdong. Kung magkaroon man ng competition, it will be a healthy competition. Both of us will benefit from it.”

RICHARD’S TRANSFER. E, kung lumipat naman kaya si Richard Gutierrez sa ABS-CBN, okey ba sa kanya?

“Bakit naman po hindi? Sa Star Cinema nakagawa siya, e. I never had any problems. Ako naman ang taong hindi maisyu, e. The more the merrier, as long as we can provide jobs to a lot of people, not just to actors but to our production staff or crew, well and good.”

Sa tingin niya hindi sisikip ang mundo nila sa ABS-CBN kapag lumipat si Richard?

“Mas maganda nga yun, e. Mas maganda, mas marami yung competition. Mas maraming nabibigyan ng trabaho and at the same I think kung wala kang karibal o kalaban hindi masaya. So, I think we can all benefit from it, John Lloyd [Cruz], Sam [Milby], Dingdong, Richard, all of us.”

Hindi kaya siya mai-insecure kung mas mataas ang makuhang talent fee ni Richard kesa sa kanya kapag lumipat na ang kapatid ni Ruffa Gutierrez sa ABS-CBN?

“Ah, I’ll cross the bridge when I get there,” tapos ni Piolo.

AFTER the blockbuster success of “A Very Special Love” and “For the First Time,” Star Cinema is all set to shoot its next sure hit. Tentatively titled, “Land Down Under,” the Rory Quintos movie will star “Lobo” pair Piolo Pascual and Angel Locsin.

“Land Down Under,” said Quintos, is an old concept which the producers feel will fit the stars well. Its primary hook, apart from its beautiful stars, is its setting: the cowboy world of Malaybalay, Bukidnon.

Piolo and Angel play lovers. “But then she goes to the northern territory of Australia where she becomes engaged to an Australian ranch owner. Piolo arrives and they continue their romance,” Direk Rory related.

After being paired in a teleserye, the director promises to show the two in a different light. “They will be more adult,” she assured.

Fans will also see the two do more action scenes, as their roles entail them to learn to ride a horse, lasso and catch cattle.

Right now they are training under Vittorio “Vic” Barba, a known fashion designer and riding instructor.

“Bibili na ata ng kabayo si PJ,” grinned Angel. “I’m enjoying it. Actuallynalaglag ako pero sakay uli. Awa ng Diyos wala namang nabaling buto.”

“Land Down Under” will bring the cast to Pasugong in Malaybalay, where they will stay for almost a month. Then they’re off to the remote Darwin in Australia. “The grocery is three hours away,” said Direk Rory. “We’ll sleep in sleeping bags.”

Dimples Romana, AJ Dee, Erich Gon-zales, Nash Aguas, John Manalo and Ricky Davao are also in the movie. Slated release is November 12, the culmination of Star Cinema’s 15th anniversary.

Excited na si Piolo Pascual sa first movie nila ni Angel Locsin under Star Cinema Productions. Panay daw ang training ni Piolo ng pangangabayo sa Manila Polo Club nitong nakaraang buwan. Mas kumportable na raw siya ngayon sa pangangabayo.

“Mas nae-enjoy ko yung pangangabayo and I never thought na it would be this fun na masarap pala. Masarap pala mag-riding. I never thought na mae-enjoy ko siya,” lahad ni Piolo sa story/press conference ng movie nila ni Angel.

First time ba niyang mangabayo?

“Ah, no, nangangabayo rin ako sa Baguio, sa Tagaytay. Pero yung talagang seriously riding na tini-train kami, talagang ngayon lang.”

HELP FROM MIKEE COJUANGCO. Malalaki at pang-equestrian daw ang mga ginamit nilang kabayo sa training. Mabuti na lang daw at hindi siya naka-experience na mahulog sa kabayo. At isa sa mga naging trainer niya sa Manila Polo Club ang dating aktres at equestrienne champion na si Mikee Cojuangco.

“Mikee was there. Once in a while she’d give us tips. Natatawa siya kasi she’d always watch us. Iino-observe niya kami ni Angel. Once in a while lumalapit sa amin tinuturuan din niya kami, and our coach na si Mr. Barba, napaka-patient niya. He really wants us to learn and he’s very patient with us.”

Kaya ba siya nangayayat dahil sa pangangabayo?

“Nag-change po ako ng program sa gym. Nag-stop ako mag-lift ng weights into body weight lang para more on core performance para sa core, dito sa mid-section and then sa baba, sa legs para mas madaling sumakay, mas madaling gumalaw.”

Ano klaseng diet ang ginagawa niya?

“Ay, wala po akong pinipili, Nakakatatlong plato na nga po ako, e,” biro ni Piolo.

“I never deprive myself. Pero dati kasi hindi ako kumakain ng kanin at meat. Hindi ako nabi-beef and pork. Hindi ko na kayang kumain. Matagal na po. So, I’m into fish, seafood, bread, and what do you call it? Pasta.”

GETTING IN LOVE WITH ANGEL. Hindi ba siya ninenerbyos na ma-develop siya kay Angel since silang dalawa lang ang magkasama sa pagsu-shooting-an nilang province sa southern Philippines at sa Australia?

“Eight months kaming nagtrabaho sa Lobo ni Angel and Angel is very professional. Dedicated siya sa trabaho niya. She’s really devoted and we share the same passion.

“In our line of work we always wanna be able to come up with the best. We always want to perform well and masarap siyang katrabaho.”

Posible kaya na this time ay ma-in love na siya kay Angel?

“Hindi ko po alam,” ngiti ni Piolo.

NUMBER ONE. Speaking of Lobo, nagpasalamat si Piolo sa mga sumuporta sa una nilang teleserye ni Angel mula umpisa hanggang sa wakas. Ayon sa NUTAM (Nationwide Urban TV Audience Measurement) rating na inilabas dito sa PEP, number one ang Lobo sa primetime sa buong bansa nung nakaraang buwan.

“We’re grateful. It’s a blessing kasi parang all your hardwork nag-pay off. So, nakakataba ng puso, nakakawala ng pagod. A lot of people, of course, didn’t know how much time and effort we put into the project. So, when you get to see something like that nakaka-relieve ng stress. Parang you know, you realized na parang may pinupuntahan yung pinaghihirapan mo. It’s a gift.

“I’m really thankful and grateful because sinubaybayan siya at sinuportahan. Kaya siguro sa amin it’s a vindication also. Na-validate yung pinaghirapan ninyo and you know, people enjoyed it.

“And also for Angel. ‘Di ba maganda rin na talagang nung pag-transfer niya, marami’ng nagalit sa kanya and everything? But it’s good na hindi siya iniwanan ng mga tao. It’s a good transition for her.

“I see it naman, yung paghihirap niya when she transferred. She tries to be okay kahit alam mo talaga na maraming sumisira. But you know, Angel is a fighter. Siya yung tao na hindi gumi-give-up. Nag-focus lang siya sa trabaho niya. So, pinagbutihan niya talaga ang ginagawa niya. Maganda ang attitude niya sa trabaho.”

CLAUDINE VS. ANGEL. Ano ang naging partisipasyon naman ni Piolo nung magkaroon ng intriga si Angel at isa pa niyang leading lady na si Claudine Barretto?

“A, hindi naman sa naging tulay ako. Ito na naman…” bunting-hininga ni Piolo. “Ayoko nang magsalita about that.”

Kumusta naman ang friendship nila ngayon ni Claudine?

“We’re okay. Same with Angel. Ibang level ang closeness ng friendhsip namin. Inaanak ko yung anak ni Claudine, sina Sabina at Santino. Si Angel naman, inaanak ko siya. Joke!”

ANGEL’S IMPROVEMENT. Mas naging close ba sila ni Angel after ng controversy sa kanila ni Claudine?

“Yeah, definitely. We got to know each other better. Nakita namin yung mga…of course, maganda, maganda yung pagsasama namin sa Lobo. Revelation sa akin si Angel.

“Nakita ko talaga how dedicated she is, yung sa trabaho niya. How much she’s willing to learn and how far she’s willing to go. So, masarap siyang katrabaho in short. Natsa-challenge ako.”

Kitang-kita rin sa Lobo ang laki ng improvement ng pag-arte ni Angel sa screen.

“Definitely, that’s what I’m saying. She’s a revelation kasi hindi ko naman napapanood si Angel dati. Nung nakasama ko siya, nakatrabaho ko siya, natuwa rin ako dahil nakita ko meron palang ibubuga ito.”

Dapat maging proud din siya dahil siya ang kasama ni Angel sa Lobo at isa rin sa dahilan kaya nakaarte ng maganda ang kapartner niya sa teleserye.

“Ayoko namang magbuhat ng sarili kong bangko. Masaya na ako na nakita ko talaga na, meron siyang…kaya naman pala siya malakas ang loob na lumipat or malakas ang loob na gumawa ng step na risky because meron siya ibibigay. So, bilib ako sa kanya sa ganung aspeto.”

WHO’S PERFECT? Paano niya iri-rate ang mga leading ladies niya na sina Claudine, Angel, at Judy Ann Santos?

“Ah, iba-iba naman po sila. Iba-iba ang level ng galing.”

May perfect ba para sa kanya?

“Wala akong mabibigay na perfect [rating] kahit sino sa kanila. Pero lahat sila magagaling. Wala namang perfect na tao, e. Kasi kaya nga you know, you want to become better. But I can say na lahat sila magagaling. I’m blessed to have a chance to work with good actresses na alam mo talaga, minsan manonood ka na lang dahil magaling sila.”

Pero siyempre hindi maiaalis na magkaroon siya ng favorite leading lady. Sino kaya sa kanila?

“Wala po. Ayoko ng intirga. Ayoko ng stress.”

MR. PASCUAL. Naiisip pa rin ba niya na makakatrabaho niya pa rin si Judy Ann?

“I never close my doors. Ako naman, sa akin iba ang personal sa professional. I know if there will come a time na magkatrabaho na kami ulit, you know, okey sa akin, because grabe rin naman ang pinagsamahan namin ni Juday. And I know a lot of people would be happy.”

Kahit na maging Mrs. Ryan Agoncillo na si Judy Ann?

“Bakit naman hindi? Napakaliit ng industrya natin para mag-ikutan. Okey lang yun. Mr. Pascual pa rin naman ako,” nakatawang pagtatapos ni Piolo.

TWO of the hottest and most sought after actors in the Philippine entertainment industry today will team up for the latest advertisement campaign of a beauty product.

Dingdong Dantes and Piolo Pascual are the two matinee idols singled out by Ponds for its newest drive in search for the freshest and most beautiful faces in town.

The idea of the campaign ad is to bring together two of the finest and hottest talents of two giant networks ABS-CBN 2 and GMA-7. They will be the medium in searching for the next Ponds’ girl.

In the advertisement, the two hot bachelors get ready and put on their tuxedos. They pick up a pink rose reserved for the ladies to be chosen as the next beauty of Ponds.

For Dingdong, he is honored to be chosen as a conduit for the said endorsement but he still does not consider himself the hottest or the best, as what the advertisers’ perception is. He humbly believes that he simply fits the qualities the ads’ producers are looking for.

This is not the first time Dingdong and Piolo have worked in one project together.

According to Dingdong, he had worked with Piolo about five years ago in a show in Japan with the Side A Band.

They also had been part of the Rampa for a Cause, a fashion show of the Gutierrez family, two years ago.

“It’s good that the talents of two different networks are having fusion in one project. Much more that he (Piolo) has already established his name, his career, his personality,” Dingdong said.

He added that he did not think twice in accepting the offer as he considers working with Piolo a great opportunity for him to get to know actors from other networks.

If gorgeousness is the basis of Ponds producers in selecting their endorsers, Dingdong and Piolo are indisputably fit to that as they both proved to be two of the hottest men of their generation.

Piolo was hailed RP’s Sexiest Man of 2008, while Dingdong is included in E! Entertainment Television’s 25 Sexiest Men in the World.

All out ang support ni Piolo Pascual sa pelikula nina Richard Gutierrez at KC Concepcion, ang For The First Time, sa direksiyon ni Joyce Bernal mula sa Star Cinema Productions. Inindorso ni Piolo na panoorin ng mga fans ang For The First Time, na magbubukas na sa August 27.

Sad to say, hindi makakarating si Piolo sa premiere night ng movie nina KC at Richard sa Martes, August 26, sa SM Megamall. By that time, nagsu-shoot na kasi si Piolo ng kauna-unahan niyang pelikula with Angel Locsin mula sa Star Cinema.

Nakatakdang umalis ngayong weekend sina Piolo at Angel patungong Bukidnon para doon mag-shoot. Kailangan nang simulan nina Piolo at Angel ang pagsu-shoot ng movie nila dahil may nakalaan nang playdate for their movie sa buwan ng Nobyembre bilang bahagi pa rin ng 15th anniversary ng Star Cinema.

Ngayon pa lang ay nag-uunahan na diumano ang mga taga-TFC (The Filipino Channel) sa iba’t ibang cities sa U.S. na sila ang mauna na pagpalabasan ng movie nina Piolo at Angel once na ipalabas ito sa Pilipinas. Miss na miss na raw kasi ng mga TFC subscribers na mapanood muli ang tambalan nina Piolo at Angel.

Tinutukan daw kasi nang husto ng mga TFC subscribers ang unang pagtatambal sa telebisyon nina Piolo at Angel na Lobo. Kaya nang matapos ang serye ay gusto ulit agad nilang mapanood na magkasama sina Piolo ay Angel. Dahil din dito, nabalitaan namin na mabentang-mabenta ang video ng Lobo mula sa Star Records.

OTHER STAR CINEMA MOVIES. Samantala, malapit na ring simulan ang shooting ng balik-tambalan ng very successful tandem nina Vhong Navarro at Toni Gonzaga sa big screen. Tentatively titled Hurry Love ang project na pagsasamahan ulit nina Vhong at Toni sa direksiyon ng box-office director na si Cathy Garcia Molina (A Very Special Love).

Totally different na raw ito sa unang lumabas na balita na magtatambnal sina Vhong at Toni sa proyektong My Amnesia Girl. May playdate na rin ang movie nina Vhong at Toni sa Oktubre.

Nagsu-shoot na rin ngayon ang Diamond Star na si Maricel Soriano ng first horror movie niya under Chito Roño para sa Star Cinema, ang project na may working title na T (Tenement) 2. Ito sana ang ikatlong project ng very successful din na tandem ni Direk Chito at Kris Aquino. But Kris had to beg off dahil sa kanyang inang maysakit, si ex-President Cory Aquino.

By December, ipalalabas naman ang 2008 Metro Manila Film Festival entry ng Star Cinema, Ang Tanging Ina Ninyong Lahat, na pinagbibidahan ng Comedy Concert Queen Ai-Ai delas Alas sa direksiyon ni Wenn Deramas.

At bilang follow-up sa bagong box-office hit na love team nina John Lloyd Cruz at Sarah Geronimo, hinahanda na rin ang kasunod nilang pelikula mula sa Star Cinema after A Very Special Love. Posibleng mag-overlap ito sa paggawa ng movie ni John Lloyd with Batangas Governor Vilma Santos na magsisimula ang shooting by November.

Mas mauuna raw ipalabas ang follow-up movie nina John Lloyd at Sarah kung matatapos agad kesa sa movie ng young actor with Governor Vi. Bukod dito, atat na rin daw ang mga publiko na muling mapanood sa big screen ang tambalan nina John Lloyd at Sarah.

Pero malabo raw na maging Valentine movie offering ng Star Cinema ang second movie nina John Lloyd at Sarah dahil ayaw nilang tapatan ang movie nina KC at Richard sa GMA Films na meron nang playdate sa February 2009.
