THE movie of Piolo Pascual and Angel Locsin will have its US premiere first before it will be screened in the country.

Ironically, “Land Down Under” is slated to be initially screened in some states in the US such as Los Angeles on December 6 and San Francisco Bay Area (Redwood City) on December 7. The special screening will be graced by the two main stars.

Piolo and Angel were back last Saturday after about two weeks of shooting in the real land down under - Australia.

The two stars will just finish few remaining scenes for their film here before flying to the States. Half of the film was shot in Bukidnon in Northern Mindanao while the other half was taken in Darwin, Australia.

Supposedly, the original play date of this movie was this month. However, due to some delays, the showing was moved early next year.

The screening of “Land Down Under” is part of the world premiere of Star Cinema’s parade of movies filmed in line with its 15th year anniversary.

The movie of Vhong Navarro and Toni Gonzaga - “My Only U” will also be screened in the said event. Toni and Vhong will be absent in the screening, but Sam Milby is expected to attend the show to join Piolo and Angel.

A film by Director Rory Quintos, “Land Down Under” is a story about winning back one’s first love after being separated for years.

Migo (Piolo), after his father’s death, returns to his hometown in Bukidnon, to reclaim his family’s ranch. He then sees his first love, Arah (Angel), who is an excellent rodeo, and tries to win the beautiful lady’s heart again. (JRDB/Sunnex)

Piolo Pascual and Angel Locsin, lead stars of the upcoming “Land Down Under,” arrived in the country Saturday night after wrapping up the filming of their much-anticipated movie produced by ABS-CBN’s Star Cinema.

For two weeks, the two stars stayed in Australia where they shot some scenes, particularly in Darwin and Sydney. Some parts of the movie were also shot in Bukidnon.

Pascual shared that he and the rest of the group really bonded during the shooting.

“It was so nice to go out of the country with a limited number of group dahil nakakapag-bond kayo. There was no moment na nagka-pikunan; kahit sino tulungan. Talagang masarap ang bonding kasi wala kaming ibang kasama. ‘Yong grupo lang,” he said.

Also, he said the group was able to make friends with the locals.

He also disclosed that he and Locsin were interviewed by Australian press, noting that even the Australians were very excited to see the film.

Locsin said: “Sa lahat nang nangyari sa amin, mula Bukidnon hanggang Australia, ang dami naming kwento. Lahat kami masaya… walang nag-bad trip-an kahit medyo rough ang conditions doon.”

The two said they were able to go around the city before flying back to the Philippines.

Meantime, they are scheduled to leave for the United States for the premiere of “Land Down Under” early next month. The Buzz

REDWOOD CITY, CA, November 18, 2008 – In the tradition of worldwide box-office hits, “Milan”, “Dubai”, “Caregiver” and “For the First Time”, Star Cinema prepared a blockbuster film shot both in the Philippines and Australia to culminate its series of 15th anniversary offerings this year.

This holiday season, ABS-CBN International’s Starry Starry Store brings to U.S. shores Land Down Under, starring the Philippines’ leading love team, Piolo Pascual and Angel Locsin, who will both grace premieres in Los Angeles on December 6 and in San Francisco Bay Area (Redwood City) on December 7.

The scheduled U.S. premieres of Land Down Under are a two-in-one celebration. Aside from being the climax of Star Cinema’s 15th year, they also mark the second big event in the year-long 15th year anniversary celebration of TFC that was kicked off via “One Kapamilya Go!” in Ontario, California last September 21.

The movie will wow the audience with breathtaking cinematography, unveiling the beauty of the town of Impasug-ong, Bukidnon in Northern Mindanao whose claim to fame is “Home of the country’s finest cowboys”. Yes – expect Pinoy rodeo and horseback-riding from the lead stars who underwent training from famed riding instructor Vic Barba and equestrienne Mikee Conjuangco. The other half of the film transports the audience to the city of Darwin, dubbed Australia’s gateway to Asia and one of the most thriving areas north of Queensland.

The heart of the movie lies in the story of Arah (Angel Locsin) and Migo (Piolo Pascual). Migo returns to Bukidnon’s lush pasture lands and magnificent rolling hills after working in Manila for years. He is reclaiming the ranch that his family had lost after his father’s death.

At the famous Kaamulan festival of the province, Migo chances upon his first love, Arah, the beautiful and fearless rodeo queen of Bukidnon. He falls in love with her again and resolves to win back her heart.

But Arah is already engaged to an Australian rancher. Being the eldest daughter of a poor cowboy, she feels compelled to accept the foreigner’s offer of marriage in order to give her family a better life, no matter how much she still loves Migo.

Arah leaves for a vast and lonely Australian ranch with a group of other Filipino cowboys who have been hired to work there.

Will Migo be able to reclaim the love he has lost or will he learn to let Arah go and start anew? How far will Migo be willing to go for love?

“Land Down Under is the perfect ending to a fantastic year of anniversary film offerings from Star Cinema, the perfect romance movie for the holidays, and the perfect follow-up to One Kapamilya Go under TFC’s 15th year list of events” said Kerwin Du, ABS-CBN International’s category head for telecom, retail and theatricals. “Star Cinema put a lot of effort into coming up with this topnotch quality film to provide a one-of-a-kind experience for our moviegoers. We’re just so happy to be able to bring this film and the stars to our kababayans here.”

The movie is directed by the critically acclaimed Rory Quintos who helmed the international hits, “Anak” and “Dubai”, from the script of Ara Badayos.
