MANILA - Hunk actor Piolo Pascual is set to release his sixth album called “Decades: Songs from 50s, 60s and 70s” under Star Records.

The “Lovers in Paris” actor said the album will be composed of classic love songs from the 50s, 60s, and 70s.

“This is my 6th album. Kasi everyday mayroon akong kinakanta for that decade,” Pascual told “SNN: Showbiz News Ngayon.”

When asked if he included in his CD a special song for KC (Kristina Cassandra) Concepcion, his leading lady in “Lovers in Paris,” Pascual replied: “Kay Kristina, hindi ko pa maisip kasi walang original songs dito (CD). So, if I will sing a song [for her], gusto ko siyempre original.”

Pascual is courting Concepcion, daughter of Megastar Sharon Cuneta and first husband Gabby Concepcion.

Pascual, one of the hosts of musical variety show “ASAP ’09,” is also gearing for Star Magic’s concert that will be held at the Araneta Coliseum this coming November 30.

The concert will feature at least 70 Star Magic artists.

In between the Star Magic concert rehearsal and catching up with her celebrity friends, Rica Peralejo was constantly fielding calls on her cellphone last Monday inside the ABS-CBN compound. Apparently, she still has her hands full with all the preparations for her beach wedding this coming January at the latest. “Naayos na namin ang food, stylist, venue, at ang guest list. Pero tama nga ang sabi ni Mareng Judy Ann (Santos). Tinawagan ko kasi siya, sabi ko, ‘Mare gusto ko kasi maliit lang (yung kasal).’ ‘O ilan ba ang iimbitahan mo?’ Sinabi ko yung number, pero sabi niya, ‘Ay magba-balloon pa ’yan.” Pero true enough habang tumatagal marami kang naalalang tao na kailangang iinvite mo,” she said in an interview with the network’s entertainment media.

Only a few showbiz personalities are invited but Rica hopes that Piolo Pascual would be able to make it to her big day. Because contrary to popular belief, there’s no bad blood between them despite the rumors that Rica allegedly turned him down when he tried to court her a few years back. “Kasi si Piolo is one of the people responsible for getting me into church. Isa talaga siya sa makulit na nagyaya sa akin at alam ng grupo na yun kung sinu-sino sila. Kumbaga para kang may anak na ‘pag nakita niya ako, parang ‘Wow, yung baby namin sa church dati, ito na ikakasal na siya ngayon.’ So I would really love for him to be there, to witness what God has done for me. Kasi iba, sentimental yung ganon e,” she explained.

The pretty actress also denied that there are still those who wanted them to end up with each other especially their loyal supporters. “Hindi, I’m sure walang ganon. Kasi I’m sure all of my fans, if they are truly my fans, they will be happy for you when you’re happy. Kasi fans naman are not just people who watch you on TV. I believe that when they see the development of their favorite celebrities in real life, they also rejoice with you. So I don’t believe na meron pa ring mga tao na gusto kaming magkatuluyan,” she stressed.

Since she is one of Piolo’s good friends, Rica further shared that she has come to know him as someone who’d be a good family man which is why she prays for him to find the right girl soon. “As somebody who found someone na, ganito pala yung feeling. Kasi I wasn’t thinking of marrying. It’s a different thing altogether. Parang ok, there’s a new dimension in my life. And it’s just a really good one that you’d wish it to happen to others also.”

When asked if she thinks KC Concepcion would be the perfect match for him, she revealed that she can really feel the chemistry between the two. “Malay mo. Alam mo ok ‘yan sa akin kasi napapanood ko yung plugs ng Lovers In Paris during commercials sa UKG (Umagang Kay Ganda). Naku-kyutan ako sa acting nila pareho. And I think because I know KC as someone na mabait at disenteng babae, aba e boto ako dyan. Basta huwag lang nila i-hurt yung isa’t isa.”

Due to the overwhelming success of the Star Magic World Concert Tour in the US four months ago, Beginnings at Twenty Plus, Inc. (headed by Stanley and Pelita Uy) which was a presentor of the two-city tour (in Los Angeles and San Francisco) together with Star Records, Inc. (headed by Ms. Malou Santos and Ms. Annabelle Regalado-Borja) and Blue Dream Entertainment (headed by Christian Andoy) decided to present the show in the Philippines in order to share it with fellow Filipinos.

This time, there will be more than 70 Star Magic artists performing in “extravagant” and “breath-taking” production numbers. Still to be directed by Star Magic head Johnny Manahan, the “Star Magic World Concert Tour Live at the Araneta Coliseum” will be held on Nov. 13. It promises to be a more exciting show, what with the number of performers (25 more than the artists who performed in the US).

This will be a fundraising concert for the victims of typhoons Ondoy and Pepeng, according to Pelita Uy. She also said that their goal is to be able to donate no less than P10 million to people adversely affected by the typhoons. “These are really trying times. Never in the history of our disaster-prone country did we experience the catastrophic forces of nature rendering all faction of society in equal terms. All of us are affected, either directly or indirectly. It’s time for us all to listen to God’s call,” she stressed.

In their common vision to help the plight of the victims and survivors of the typhoons, the producers said they will give the proceeds of the ticket sales to ABS-CBN Foundation, Inc.’s Sagip Kapamilya (which is the emergency humanitarian assistance program of the Foundation which aims to provide food and non-food relief to affected communities of disasters, rehabilitation and disaster-risk reduction projects).

“In desperate times like this, only our fellow Filipinos can help us. We cannot stop now,” said Christian Andoy.

All the Star Magic artists who’ve been active in raising funds for the typhoons’ survivors supported the endeavor of the producers and volunteered to donate their talent fees. “When Mr. Johnny Manahan informed us that the Star Magic artists decided to donate their talent fees in this concert, we know that they made a big sacrifice. We have high hopes that many will give their share by supporting the concert,” enthused Ms. Annabelle R. Borja of Star Magic.

The performers of the “Star Magic World Concert Tour Live in Manila” will be led by the Ultimate Heartthrob Piolo Pascual and Optimum Star Claudine Barretto. They will be joined by former housemate Sam Milby, the Original Hunk Diether Ocampo (who wasn’t able to perform in the US because he got sick), Kristine Hermosa, John Lloyd Cruz, Bea Alonzo, Gerald Anderson and Kim Chiu.

Angelica Panganiban, Maja Salvador, Shaina Magdayao, Roxanne Guinoo, Lauren and Megan Young and the ASAP Coverboys Rafael Rosell, Zanjoe Marudo, Victor Basa, Jon Avila and Jake Cuenca will also be in the show, and so with Robi Domingo, Rayver Cruz, Mickey Perz, Sam Concepcion, Dino Imperial, AJ Perez and Chris Gutierrez.

“Katorse” stars Enchong Dee, Xian Lim and Erich Gonzales will be there, along with Melissa Ricks and Matt Evans. Pokwang will do the comedy acts along with Chokoleit, Kitkat and Bentong.

Of course, the evening won’t be complete without the audience being serenaded by Jed Madela, Nikki Gil, Sheryn Regis, Laarni Lozada, Ronnie Liang, Jay R Siaboc and Yeng Constantino, among others.

Joining the original line-up of artists are Gabby Conception, Vina Morales, Nikki Valdez, Jason Gainza, Wendy Valdez, Bangs Garcia, Guji Lorenzana, JM Rodriguez, Alfred Gatchalian and many others.

I WAS OFFERED A ONE-ON-one interview with Piolo Pascual in relation to a Timex Ironman event that will be held on Nov. 15 at Bonifacio Global City.

He was more than I expected him to be—warm, smart and, of course, very good-looking. Instead of focusing on the event, I ended up asking him beauty questions and then some. Here goes:

Why are you into running?

It fits my lifestyle. Also, with running, there is cardio involved. I get to do it even when I’m busy. You can run anywhere as long as you have the right gear.

What gear do you use?

It’s important to have the right shoes to protect the soles of your feet. Also, anything comfortable, so I can move with ease, plus my Timex watch.

What is its impact on your lifestyle?

I learned to be more disciplined and focused. I have to make time for it since I have to be aware that the next day, I still have work. It helps me take care of what’s most important, and be proactive about it, which is my health.

What products do you use?

I hardly use products. I don’t think I’m really vain. When I’m in the US though, I use a lot of moisturizers since the weather is dry. Of course, when I run, I use SPF-30 sunblock. I visit Belo for maintenance.

What’s your guilty indulgence?

I get home massage.

Who does your hair?

Peps Silvestre has been cutting and styling my hair for years.

What do you notice when you see a girl?

Her eyes

Do you like athletic girls?

Active girls—not necessarily athletic

Fave cologne?

I honestly use my own line available at Bench, Pure Passion. It’s fruity so it smells fresh. In fact, even on girls I prefer cologne. Nothing too strong.

Your celebrity crush?

Winona Ryder and Natalie Portman

Who are your biggest influences in life?

Two of my strongest influences in life are Mr. M—my manager Johnny Manahan—and my mom. Mr. M because without him, I wouldn’t be here. He is very hardworking, disciplined, straightforward; I learn a lot from him. I’m also close to my mom. I admire how she brought us up and the values she has instilled in me. Most importantly, she practices what she preaches.

Who do you find pretty?

Mikee Cojuangco-Jaworski

Among the more mature set, who do you find beautiful?

I’ve always admired Ma’am Charo’s beauty because she’s elegant and her beauty is timeless. Also, Rio Locsin.

You endorse a lot of products. What makes you choose to endorse a product?

First, I make sure I use the product. When I’m asked to endorse a product, the more I research on its ingredients, because I feel a responsibility toward the consumer.

Any beauty secret you want to share?

Lots of sleep!

Piolo Pascual’s current teleserye Lovers in Paris co-starring KC Concepcion continues to captivate audiences, something for which the actor is grateful. At Magic for a Cause, the Star Magic benefit fashion show held last October 11, Piolo expressed his gratitude to all the viewers who have made Lovers in Paris a big success. “It feels great because we really want the people to enjoy the teleserye. Thankful kami atafter months of taping naipalabas na siya. We’re thankful to all the viewers who continuously support the show.Hindi lang ‘yung ratings ang iniisip namin but more of making the audience more hooked on every episode. The challenge for us is to keep everyone interested.”

Meanwhile, Piolo’s former Lobo leading lady Angel Locsin has just bagged a Best Actress nomination for the 37th International Emmy Awards. The Ultimate Heartthrob said that he is very happy that Angel’s performance has received acclaim from international media. “I’m very excited for her because she really did a good job sa Lobo. I know marami na siyang achievements before pero itong Emmy e isang napakalaking bagay because pang international na.”

Piolo hasn’t had the time to personally congratulate his former leading lady for her recent achievement. Angel has been busy with her charity work for the victims of Typhoons Ondoy and Pepeng. (The star will be auctioning off several of her designer bags for charity.) For his part, after joining in the Sagip Kapamilya telethon and relief operations, Piolo, together with other Star Magic artists, walked the ramp for a fashion show to raise donations for typhoon victims. “I wore a design by Inno Sotto. It’s a blessing to be a part of something so significant at this time. I think as a part of Star Magic, we were able to come up with a very good show that aims to help the victims of the typhoon. Lahat kami naka-gather ng donations from our sponsors and endorsements.” The actor-singer is also involved his own charity work for calamity-stricken Pinoys which he prefers to keeps secret.
