MANILA, Philippines- After rendering a surprise song number for his father’s advance birthday celebration last Sunday, the 13-year-old son of hunk actor Piolo Pascual has caught the attention of the public.

According to Pilipino Star Ngayon columnist Salve Asis, Iñigo became famous instantly after his surprise video song number on musical variety show “ASAP.”

The video went viral and, the report said, Iñigo topped Yahoo’s searches a day after the “ASAP” episode.

Last Sunday, Pascual was singing “I Want To Hold Your Hand” when his son’s video performing the same song was flashed on a big television screen. Holding back tears, a visibly surprised Pascual joined his son in singing the Beatles song.

After their touching duet, the son greeted his father, “Happy Birthday Pa. I Love You.”

Pascual said it was the best birthday gift. “Grabe. Hindi ko ine-expect. I was just on the phone with him kanina and he was on his way somewhere. Wala naman siyang nabanggit. He’s a blessing sa buhay ko sobra. I never expected na one of these days, makaka-duet ko ang anak ko. Kahit man lang sa video.”

The video of their duet has been posted on YouTube and has reached at least 14,000 views as of posting time.

Fans expressed their desire to see more of Iñigo as they urged him to follow in the footsteps of his actor-singer dad.

Amid calls for him to join show business, Pascual, however, is still standing by his decision not to allow his son to enter the industry.

Piolo marks 34th birthday

Pascual, who turned 34 today, was born Piolo Jose. The bankable actor is known for his head-turning physique and acting skills.

Pascual has been paired with the country’s best leading ladies like Judy Ann Santos, Angel Locsin, Claudine Barreto, Regine Velasquez and Bea Alonzo.

The Philippines’ “Dreamboy” starred in hit films “9 Mornings”, “Bakit Di Totohanin”, “Paano Kita Iibigan”, “Till There Was You”, “Love Me Again: Land Down Under,” and others.

Pascual was also part of popular television shows like “Sa Piling Mo,” “Walang Kapalit,” “Lobo,” and “Lovers in Paris.”

Aside from singing and acting, Pascual ventured into film production, with “Kimmy Dora” as his debut project.

The “Noah” lead star is romantically linked to actress-host KC Concepcion.

Like any other offspring of celebrities, the son of Piolo Pascual, 11-year old Iñigo, also wants to follow in the footsteps of his father.

Pascual disclosed that Iñigo wrote him a letter to tell him that he wishes to enter show business. The actor, however, said he had to say no because finishing his education is more important.

“He gave me a journal and said na gusto niya talagang mag-artista but personally ayoko,” Pascual said.

“Ang agreement namin ay tapusin niya muna ang pag-aaral niya… Gusto ko ay i-enjoy niya muna ang childhood niya at tapusin ang pag-aaral,” he added.

He noted that it is very difficult for anyone to balance studies and showbiz work.

Iñigo is currently studying in the United States.

“Okay na siguro na nasa states siya. Maganda naman ‘yong pinapasukan niya. Iba din ang standard doon,” he said.

“Choice naman niya kung gusto niyang mag-high school dito at mag-college doon. Medyo madugo lang kapag doon siya nag-aral pero kung gusto niya doon ay gusto ko din kasi mas tahimik ang buhay for him,” he added.

The hunk actor recently flew to the US to spend time with his son. He is now back in the country to fulfill his commitments but he will leave for the US again to spend Christmas and New Year with his family.

Meanwhile, the hunk actor, who did lots of movies this year, said he is very grateful because of his countless blessings.

Pascual said he is also hoping to meet the right woman.

“I’m constantly praying… sooner or later, I’m sure iga-grant ni Lord ‘yon. But as of now, I’m enjoying all the blessings that are coming my way. Puro trabaho at pamilya muna,” he said.

Pascual is now busy promoting his first movie with Angel Locsin titled “Love Me Again (Land Down Under).” The movie is directed by Rory Quintos and produced by ABS-CBN’s movie outfit Star Cinema.

The father said he wants to have more quality time with his kid and his family, so he will be celebrating Christmas in the United States.
