Piolo Pascual did not know what to say when asked about the real score between him and Lovers in Paris leading lady KC Concepcion during the show’s press conference last night, September 17, at the Dolphy Theater of the ABS-CBN building.

It took him a few seconds before he actually answered the question. While looking at KC, who was seated beside him, he said: “Ah, paano ko ba sasagutin ‘to? Kasi po, ang nangyari kasi, during the course of time… Isa sa mga separate interviews namin, siyempre given na kapag prepared ka, sabihin na ganito, ‘What’s the real score?’ We just decided na siguro mag-focus na muna kami dito sa show. Because whatever we say, it will be cliché already, e. Parang magka-partner kayo, sabihin na kayo, aminin ninyong kayo, ‘tapos pagkatapos ng show, wala na.”

He explained further that it would be better if they answer the question after the one-season only Pinoy version of the Koreanovela Lovers in Paris.

The multi-awarded actor told the media, “Just to be fair to the show, parang gusto po namin na mag-focus muna ang mga tao doon sa character namin, kung sino si Vivian [KC] at sino si Carlo [Piolo]. Then, kung ano po ang mangyayari after the show, siguro it’s better for us to answer that question. You know, just answer that after the show.

“Parang for us, to be fair also, nagkakasakitan din po kahit papaano because of judgment from other people, sa mga quotes namin, sa mga sagot namin. Para maprotektahan din naman po ang relationship namin, ang friendship namin, I think it’s better na sabihin namin na chill muna.”

When the question was directed to KC, she smiled and veered away from it by saying, “Ay naku, mas naunang na-in love si Carlo kay Vivian dito.  Hindi niya alam in love na siya, hindi niya alam.”

Several months ago, both of them were frequently asked about their relationship. It can be recalled that Piolo admitted on The Buzz that he is courting KC Concepcion and he treats her as someone special to him.

However, on the same episode, KC was asked if Piolo has a chance to have a romantic relationship with her. She replied, “We’ll see, we’ll see na lang. Wala namang negative kay PJ [Piolo's nickname] na nakikita ko. Ang pinakaimportante kung ano lang yung nakikita mo sa tao pag kayong dalawa na lang. Kami yung laging magkasama. Marunong siyang ipa-smile ako.” (Click here to read related article)

FIRST TEAM UP. Both Piolo and KC shared the excitement they felt when they found out that they would be working with each other in the romance-serye Lovers in Paris.

Since this is her first teleserye, KC was glad that she would be doing the project with her celebrity crush.

“Isa ako sa mga humahanga kay Piolo, hindi lang sa Pilipinas as a girl pero sa amin na ring mga Kapamilya, ang dami ring I know na gustong makatrabaho siya. So, it’s really a big, big blessing for me na sa kanya pa ako na-pair this time. And I’m really happy.”

Piolo, on the other hand, feels blessed to be able to work with the daughter of Megastar Sharon Cuneta and former heartthrob Gabby Concepcion.

Very nervous [ako], but I’m very excited kasi makikita na naman tayo sa TV every night. Beyond that. I’m very excited because I’m paired with KC, that is a dream project for me. When it was offered to me, ang sabi ko talaga, ‘With KC Concepcion, it’s a blessing.’”

Although they’ve both decided not to talk about their personal relationship in public, Piolo expressed that he wanted to know more about her leading lady in this soap opera.

“It’s a blessing that we got a chance to work together and mas maging close pa kami. Magkaroon pa ng magandang blessing na magkasama sa trabaho and mabigyan ng chance na to become closer not just professionally, but also personally,” said Piolo.

Piolo Pascual will have a new love team in 2009. After the success of his pairing with Angel Locsin, he will now be teamed up with the mega-daughter KC Concepcion.

Piolo and KC will start taping the Philippine version of the hit koreanovela “Lovers in Paris.” Piolo will play the role of Carlo while KC will play the role of Vivian.

Lovers in Paris is a successful Korean drama series broadcast by SBS in the summer of 2004. The show won the prize for best television drama in the Baeksang Art Awards, held on May 20, 2005. The show was the first of three romantic dramas set in Europe. The second drama is Lovers in Prague. The third, and last one is simply titled Lovers.

Lovers in Paris is one of the most successful tv series in Korea with a record of 51.8% peak rating. It was also a hit in the Philippines when it was shown on ABS-CBN in 2006.

Aside from the said television series, the new love team will also do a movie together.

“Hopefully a movie before ipalabas iyong soap, but of course sa January ipapalabas muna ang movie namin ni Angel (Locsin) and come February or March naman ay ipapalabas iyong independent movie ko na ‘Manila,’” Piolo said.

What if you fall in love with someone, but society considers your love taboo?

This is the problem facing Noel (Piolo Pascual) and Melanie (Claudine Barretto) in the ABS-CBN teleserye Walang Kapalit, which will air starting April 23.

This drama series directed by Wenn Deramas is based on Nerissa Cabral’s komiks novel Hindi Nahahati Ang Langit. The movie version, under the direction of Mike De Leon, starred Dina Bonnevie and Edu Manzano.

Piolo and Claudine reunite for the small screen after making their blockbuster hit Milan. The two had previously worked together in the TV show Buttercup, where they starred as Lance and Meg.

Now that they are paired again, Piolo was asked how was it like to work with a pregnant Claudine. “It’s really been easy to work with Claudine ever since but I think mas lalo pa siyang bumait ngayon. We’re extra careful during the shoot because she’s pregnant but she is a professional,” he said during a press con of Walang Kapalit. “Ang gaan pa rin niyang katrabaho.”

Claudine is on her pregnancy’s second trimester, and by July, she will give birth to a baby boy with actor-husband Raymart Santiago. For her part, she reveals that Piolo also spoils her on the set, which is why she enjoys their tapings together.

In Walang Kapalit, Dina and Edu play the married couple Agnes and Ariston, who are both into their second marriage. They each have a child from their first marriage: Melanie (Claudine), Agnes’s child from her former husband, and Noel (Piolo), Ariston’s son by his late wife.

Noel and Melanie grow up as brother and sister. The young Noel is played by Sam Concepcion while the part of young Melanie went to Julia Barretto. They bicker and quarrel throughout their childhood. But when Noel leaves for Australia to work, they discover how much they miss each other.

Love blossoms between the two, although this is against the wishes of their parents. When they grow up, they learn to be more appreciative of each other but they end up marrying other partners, played by Jodi Sta. Maria and Bobby Andrews.

Eventually, Ariston, Noel and Melanie had to join Noel in Australia when he needed help to recuperate from a car accident.

“It took us about eight months bago matapos ‘tong project,” narrates Piolo about his latest teleserye on the Kapamilya network. “We were there in Sydney for only a couple of days and then we went to Hunter Valley…[it's] super nice. Para siyang vineyard and we did scenes there with Jodi [Sta. Maria].”

Other cast members include Joem Bascon, Eda Nolan, Victor Basa, Lloyd Samartino, Susan Africa, Amy Austria, Deejay Durano, TJ Trinidad, Candy Pangilinan, and Nikki Valdez.

Find out how Melanie and Noel fight for a love that is, in society’s eyes, between two siblings. Walang Kapalit premieres this Monday, April 23, on ABS-CBN’s Primetime Bida.
